15-30% of all breast cancer tests last year were incorrect in Quebec medical laboratories.
"I just had a mastectomy a month ago, this is scary!" said Lauren Wolfe after learning the provincial health department has ordered 2,100 new tests after a small pathology study on breast cancer test procedures revealed the high number of incorrect medical laboratory test results. Patients will be retested starting July 1.
It will be weeks and months before hundreds of Quebec women will finally know the answer: "Did I get the right diagnosis and treatment? And while many are left without a breast and others undergoing chemotheraphy and extreme anguish, the state run short funded health system and the understaffed, ill equipped medical profession bicker on who to blame.
